Field guide / Supported Scope

Measure within the boundary.

The supported browser is the current stable desktop release of Google Chrome on macOS, Windows, and Linux, with Manifest V3 in a normal browsing context.

Supported targets and explicit exclusions
SurfaceBoundary
HTTP and HTTPSTop-level rendered HTML; localhost and local web servers are supported.
TraversalTop-level light DOM only. iframe documents, embedded content, and open or closed Shadow DOM are excluded. Extension UI is excluded.
Protected pagesChrome internal pages, extension pages, Chrome Web Store surfaces, and other browser-protected documents cannot be analyzed.
Direct files and other protocolsfile:, data:, blob:, non-HTML documents, and built-in viewers are unsupported. Serve local HTML through localhost.
IncognitoNot allowed by the manifest. No private-browsing workflow is supported.
Other browsersEdge and other Chromium browsers may work but are unsupported. Firefox, Safari, mobile, and non-stable Chrome channels are unsupported.
Application behaviorNo framework, router, or application-state inspection; no click, form, behavioral, or workflow testing.

Eligibility is narrower than traversal.

Rendered eligible text is stressed without replacing its Text node identity. Editable content, form controls, script/style content, hidden or excluded targets are not mutated. Large Text excludes unsupported writing modes, icon-like text, and unstable font sizes. Detector-specific exclusions can make individual comparisons inconclusive.

Supported regressions

The build implements Long Text, Unbreakable Text, and Large Text with Text Clipping, Horizontal Containment Overflow, and Viewport Overflow. Findings require comparable before/after Evidence. Active explicit ellipsis or line clamp is excluded from Text Clipping; intentional horizontal scrolling is excluded from containment Findings.

Limits of the result

This is not accessibility auditing, visual regression, cross-browser testing, a full application test, or a quality score. Findings have no severity, confidence percentage, or product-impact ranking. Pre-existing defects that do not measurably worsen are not reported as Scenario-caused Findings.

Dynamic pages and route changes

A stable-route SPA can be inspected, but rendering instability and node replacement reduce coverage. Observed same-document navigation and Page Exit end the grant. Private transitions without an observable entry change are unsupported during a Run. Restore before those transitions; follow any incomplete-observation warning.

Restore and runtime interruption

Restore is conflict-aware and best effort. Conflicts or unverified cleanup require an explicit true reload. Abrupt process termination can prevent cleanup and final snapshot delivery. BFCache return does not resume a grant.

Validation status

The current build was tested on Chrome 155.0.8059.85 on macOS. This is the validated floor for the pre-release candidate, not a compatibility promise for older versions. Manual Windows and Linux smoke checks remain a launch gate. Always use current Chrome desktop stable.
